For generations, L.A. Poche Perique Tobacco in Convent has produced perique, one of the rarest tobaccos in the world, grown commercially only in St. James Parish. This two-day sale opens the barns, warehouse, and family home.
The barns and warehouse hold dozens of large wooden whiskey barrels and wine barrel heads, reclaimed cypress, weathered wood beams and tin, an antique wooden farm wagon bed and a weathered flatbed wagon, an antique cast iron platform scale, a long wooden industrial workbench, a manual hydraulic pallet jack, heavy-duty cast iron jack stands, chrome wire commercial shelving, and wooden garden planters.
The house includes a mahogany dining table with six chairs, a mahogany china cabinet, and an antique carved sideboard; an antique mahogany wardrobe, a cedar blanket chest, and antique vanities; an RCA Victor console radio phonograph and a Philco wood cabinet radio; a Westminster Court Clock Co. clock; a vintage manual typewriter and an oak bankers chair; Louisiana maps and prints, including Norman’s Chart of the Lower Mississippi from Natchez to New Orleans. Cash, credit cards, and Venmo with ID. Please do not park in the driveway unless you are removing furniture. Built-in appliances are not for sale.
